Yes, wiki, not Twiki. Remember, Twiki said “bidi bidi bidi… what’s up, Buck?”
Yes, I’ve used Wikipedia links throughout C3EO to help provide background information for terms some visitors may not know. I realize that these links are often frowned upon in academic circles, and there could be visitors from those circles using these pages. Please, understand that I’m trying to provide accessible research to support the FAQs that often accompany documentation on new technology or systems. While there may be fascinating academic journals or corporate manuals to explain these terms, many of those resources are behind some form of gatekeeping paywall rendering those resources unusable to the public. Ergo, the use of Wikipedia and other non-academic (and perhaps even – gasp – commercial links) to support this free and open site.
FWIW, there are also some peer-reviewed articles referenced in these pages as well, so I’m not completely informal (or infirm… whatever… sometimes I’m not so sure) 🤷♂️ 😜.
Not sure what all the fuss is about? Check out this short note1 for background from UCLA’s library.
