North America Technical Training Manager 2022 – Present
Responsibilities include setting the vision, mission, and strategy for technical training programs within the Customer Care Center (aka Primary (L1) and Advanced (L2) Tech Support), developing learning paths, and delivering training to ensure our teams have next-level support skills needed to ensure an exceptional support experience for our Energy Management & Industrial Automation Customers. Team members are based in Canada, the USA, Mexico, and the Philippines.

Projects and non-classroom responsibilities:

Senior Training Specialist 2016 – 2022
Design, deliver, and administer Schneider’s product and application training programs. Deliver training on Altivar Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Altistart Soft Starts, Modicon HVAC PLCs, Programming Software (SoMove, SoMachine HVAC, EcoStruxure Machine Expert HVAC), Industrial Communications, and other products as needed for channel partners, distributors, OEMs, EUs, and Schneider Electric employees. Co-Manage and develop the annual training schedule for the team with the Team Manager. Develop and maintain training equipment for my courses, and assist team members with their equipment needs.

Projects and non-classroom responsibilities:
• Served as interim Team Manager for several months between the retirement of the Team Manager and the replacement. Coordinated all team activity between US and Global Industrial Automation LoB, Partner LoB, and Industry Specialist Distributor Program (ISDP), formerly known as Automation & Control Excellence (ACE), for the US-based distributor network.
• Training Back Office Lean – Inter-Business Unit (BU) optimization task force tasked with making training more cost-efficient and logistically easier to manage for all training teams from all BUs in the US. (2019-2020)
• Online Hackathon 4 Machinnovation 2020 – C5 – Assisted Commissioning for Drives. Mentored an international team that created a wizard-based app to guide a field operative through the variables involved in performing a complex VFD startup. The app won the challenge by both the audience’s popular vote AND the judging panel. (Oct 2020)
• Knightdale Training Team relocation to the Raleigh Hub – Lead liaison between the training team and the real estate/architectural team to define requirements for the new Raleigh Training Center (RTC) that will be in the new Raleigh Hub. Requirements include physical space requirements for the classroom, shared/integrated space with engineering and marketing teams, storage space, lab space, navigational logistics within the building, and classroom technology requirements. (2020 – 2021)
• RTC Virtual Training Lab – Project lead providing engineering guidance to the training team and management on implementing a virtual learning system that allows full-scale training to be implemented via telepresence and performing R&D on system requirements for providing virtual training for non-SE and SE trainees with technical depth as required. (2020 – 2022)
• Training Equipment Storage Manager – Lead manager and organizer of the training “cage” in the warehouse in Knightdale. Responsible for the physical move of equipment to the new RaleighHub. This responsibility included logistics, storage, and maintenance of equipment used by all members of the Industrial Automation Training team. (2018 – 2021)
• Led the training team in the adoption of MS Teams as the Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) platform.
• Researched and implemented MS Bookings as a solution to the emergency transition from ILT to VILT during the onset of the COVID pandemic. (Spring-Summer 2020)

Project Manager, Operations Technology (OT) – National Consortium for Mission Critical Operations (MCO) 2013 – 2016

OT Manager/Principle Investigator for a $23.2M grant awarded by the US Department of Labor across 5 partner colleges and a university in North Carolina and Georgia. $13M was awarded to CCC alone. Responsible for the implementation of a new MCO AAS degree standard development, coursework, and industrial computer network infrastructure to support daily operations and classwork, develop telepresence capability using VMware/Microsoft technologies to control training equipment in the classroom, and manage the development of two major industry certification exams. I taught classes on digital electronics, embedded systems, automation controls (PLC, HMI, sensors, actuators, etc.), and MCO concepts.
Department Chair – Industrial Services 2010 – 2016
Managed department programs including Automation Engineering Technology (ET), Electronics ET, Computer Integrated Machining (CNC) Technology, Mechanical Drafting (CAD) Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, and Facilities Maintenance Technology.
• The Industrial Services department offered instruction to both academic education and non-academic professional development and continuing education training for area industry.
• Established the first resource-sharing MOU ever between a college and The International Society of Automation (ISA) (www.isa.org) & Automation Federation (www.automationfederation.org).
• Backup/Standby administrator for the campus LMS (Blackboard) used by all instructors and for all coursework in the college.
Discipline Coordinator – Automation Engineering Technology (AET) 2011 – 2016
Developed statewide curriculum standard for the new AET program. Created new courses that were accepted into the statewide library of courses used at all community colleges. Developed a flexible scheduling system that included distance learning, enabling the courses while retaining hands-on training experiences. Taught and advised the first out-of-state technical graduate who never physically visited the college campus.
Discipline Coordinator – Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) 2008 – 2011
Developed course structure and sequence. Updated lab facilities and equipment. Maintained dialog with industry and university representatives for transitioning students to either or both upon graduation.
